Dark underarm may be a sign of serious illness
In some cases, the color of our armpits tends to be black, unlike other skin colors.
In summer, people love to wear sleeveless clothes, but because of the color of their armpits, they feel ashamed of wearing such clothes. In most cases, there is no serious cause for the problem. Dark underarm is a skin condition called acanthosis nigricans.
This causes the skin in some places to become very black and tight. Except under the armpits, the skin on the back of the neck, between the abdomen and the thighs, and the skin on the elbows and knees can also become black. Itching and odor problems can also occur in these areas.
Is your armpit black? Or is the black color of the armpit increasing more than before? If so, this is not a good sign for the body. It may be due to various reasons or maybe a sign of a serious health issue.
Problems with being overweight or obese make the body resistant to the effects of insulin. The hormone insulin helps control blood sugar. High levels of insulin in the blood increase the production of skin pigment cells. Therefore, overweight people suffer from the problem of having dark underarms.
Obesity also increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. It is caused by an increase in blood sugar levels in the body. And, people with symptoms of type 2 diabetes have an increased risk of acanthosis nigricans. Some of the problems with Hormone Syndrome can also be due to fluctuations in insulin levels.
Problems with hormonal syndromes such as polycystic ovary syndrome, Cushing's syndrome, acromegaly and thyroid can cause black under the armpits. Some medications also increase the level of insulin, causing the underarms to turn black.
Insulin levels are increased due to the use of insulin, birth control pills, excessive intake of niacin and human growth hormone. In some cases, sudden darkening of the skin may be due to cancer.
